100% traceable
Grain forms the basis of all whiskies. In most cases, where this grain comes from is an unknown; at most, the country or region will be known, but rarely will the plot of land the grain has been grown on be known.
With DenHool whisky, the exact location where the grain comes from is known.
The name of the plot with the coordinates where the plot is situated can be found on each bottle,
so it is clear where your whisky originates.
Landbouwbedrijf Ten Hool, located at the same site as the Drentsche Schans, forms the basis of the entire process. The grain is both sown and harvested by this arable farm.
The grain is then malted, distilled and transported back to Den Hool again as a new spirit, where it is filled into oak barrels and the maturing process takes place.
So it is 100% traceable!
Process
By clicking/double clicking on the photos at the bottom of the screen, the entire process can be followed, from grain to glass.
The depicted process relates to the harvesting of the Veenhaar plot in the year 2008. This barley is used for both the 2010 and 2011 whisky, and will also be used for the 2015 whisky. Steps 1 to 5 are therefore the same for these whiskies.
The follow-up process from distilling and filling into oak barrels to bottling is different for each year.
In 2010 and 2011, distillation was still outsourced, but from 2015 onwards, the distillation was also carried out by the Drensche Schans itself.
